The Black Education Research Collective is a community of researchers, scholar-activists, educators, and community leaders who believe in the emancipatory and transformative power of education.

Founded in 2017 by Dr. Sonya Douglass, Professor at Teachers College, Columbia University, the Black Education Research Collective is committed to empowering Black communities through emancipatory education, leadership, and action.

In 2021, it birthed the Black Education Research Center at Teachers College, Columbia University, which focuses on using research and policy to improve the educational experiences of Black and other historically disenfranchised students.
